Type-locality. Argentina, Prov. Chubut, Lago Fontana. Holotype: ♀ ( MLP).

Diagnosis. Medium-sized species (14.5–16.0 mm). Body color grayish ( Fig. 2a View FIGURE 2 ). Eyes with sparse and short ommatrichia. Frons broad, parallel-sided with short black setae mainly in the midline. Basal callus subovoid with slight dorsal projection. Subcallus grayish with short black setae laterally. Antenna brownish. Maxillary palpus slender and elongate yellowish, with yellowish and short black-brown and gray setae dorsally. Mesonotum dark brown with pale stripes "U" shaped. Wing with weak clouds on the crossveins. Abdomen dark gray dorsally, with median spots of black setae and gray triangles on tergites 1–5.

Female. Head. Eyes dark brown, without bands, with sparse and short gray ommatrichia. Frons with grayish and yellowish pruiniscence, and short black setae mainly in the midline. Frons broad, parallel-sided, frontal index 2.0–2.6. Ocelli and ocellar triangle absent. Basal callus pale brown, subovoid, with slight dorsal projection, not touching eyes and subcallus ( Fig. 2b View FIGURE 2 ). Posterior border of head gray; vertex with short setae grayish and black. Subcallus grayish, covered with yellowish pruiniscence and short black setae laterally. Clypeus and genae with yellowish pruiniscence, genae with short grayish setae, clypeus with black and gray setae. Beard with long grayish setae ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ). Scape of antenna rectangular, with brown pruiniscence and short black setae dorsally, longer ventrally, pedicel concolorous with scape, dorsal projection developed, and short black setae. First flagellomere dark brown, not angulate dorsally ( Fig. 2d View FIGURE 2 ), apical flagellomeres dark brown. Maxillary palpus slender and elongate ( Fig. 2e View FIGURE 2 ), with grayish and short black-brown setae dorsally. Proboscis dark brown, labella large and fleshy. Thorax. Mesonotum dark brown, with U-shaped gray stripes and sparse black setae laterally. Postpronotal lobes grayish pink, with long black setae. Scutellum with disc brownish, with gray and black setae, with gray pruiniscence and long gray setae laterally ( Fig. 2f View FIGURE 2 ). Pleura coated with grayish pink pruiniscence, with long whitish setae; anepisternum with shorter setae. Legs brownish. Coxae gray, femora and tip of tibiae dark grayish brown, remaining leg segments with grayish setae. Wing with weakly clouds on the crossveins, Sc and R1 with short setae, without appendix on R4 ( Fig. 2g View FIGURE 2 ). Basicosta bare. Halter dark brown. Squamae concolorous with base of wing. Abdomen. Dark gray dorsally, with median spots of black setae and gray triangles on tergites 3–5, syntergite 1+2 pink laterally ( Fig. 2h View FIGURE 2 ). Sternites gray, with pale yellow setae. Terminalia (follows Coscarón & Philip 1967). Cerci subcircular. Tergite 10 subrectangular, with long bristles. Gonapophysis projected distally, strongly concave, with long bristles. Sternite 8 wide, straight basally. Genital fork with base wide and slightly concave. Spermathecal ducts short, spermatheca slightly capitate and rugose on distal border.

Distribution. This species occurs in Chile from Curicó to Malleco Province, and in Argentina from Neuquén to Chubut Province.
