Etymology. Named for my three children, Alex (Al-), Becky (-be-), and Tony (-to).
Diagnosis. Ocellar setae as strong as posterior fronto-orbital seta. Syntergite 1+2 and tergites 3–4 bright orange; covered with small pale setulae; setulae of tergite 4 minute, uniform in size. Tergite 5 orange to dark orange-brown, mostly bare of setulae except sparse in posterior part. In female: sternite 2 parallel sided; sternite 3 1.6 X wider than long; sternite 4 2.0 X wider than long; sternite 5 1.5 X wider than long; sternite 7 lacking medial desclerotized area; lacking setulae along posterior margin.
Adults, Ψ (ɗ unknown). Body length 3.8–4.0 mm.
Head ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A–B). Height 1.6–1.9 X length; width 1.2–1.3 X height. Frons 2.3–2.8 X wider than long. Ocellar setae as strong as posterior fronto-orbital seta. Gena 0.47–0.50 X as high as head height.
Thorax ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A). Scutum 1.2–1.5 mm long. Scutellum 1.6–1.7 X wider than long. Wing ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A). Length 4.2–4.9 mm, 2.8–3.1 X longer than high.
Abdomen ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A, inset). Syntergite 1+2 and tergites 3–4 bright orange; covered with small pale setulae, except slightly longer and sometimes darker setulae along posterior edges, longest laterally; setulae of tergite 4 minute, uniform in size. Tergite 5 orange to dark orange-brown, mostly bare of setulae except sparse in posterior part. Sternite 2 large, 0.06 mm wide, 2.4 X wider than long; parallel sided. Sternite 3 2/3 width of sternite 2, 1.6 X wider than long. Sternite 4 1/2 width of sternite 2, 2.0 X wider than long. Sternite 5 1/3 width of sternite 2, 1.5 X wider than long.
Female terminalia. Tergite 7 dark, bare of pruinescence in anterior half, brownish-grey pruinose in posterior half; posterior margin not setulose. Sternite 6 large, subequal in width to sternite 3, 4.0 X wider than long. Sternite 7 lacking medial desclerotized area; lacking setulae along posterior margin.
Type material. Holotype Ψ (pinned, very good condition; Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A), deposited in INBio, with the following labels: “Est. Maritza, Tempisquito Sur, A.C.G., Prov. Guana[caste]., COSTA RICA, 600m, 20–23 Feb 1994, Curso Trichoptera, L N 325800_373700 #2707” / “ COSTA RICA, (barcode), INBIO CRI 001 682869” / “ HOLOTYPUS Helgreelia albeto Gaimari. ” Paratypes: COSTA RICA: Alajuela Province: 20 km S Upala, F.D. Parker, 28.X.1990 (1Ψ, SDG dissection 1322, EMUS), 25–31.X.1990 (1Ψ, CSCA), 22.XI.1990 (1Ψ, EMUS), 21–30.IV.1991 (1Ψ, USNM); Guanacaste Province: 3 km SE Rio Naranjo, F.D. Parker, V.1991 (1Ψ, EMUS).
Distribution. Known only from Costa Rica (Alajuela, Guanacaste).
