Anastoechus asiaticus Becker, 1916

Anastoechus asiaticus Becker, 1916: 55 . Type locality: “Transkaspien” [= Kyrgyz Republic] & “Alai-Gebirge” [= Russia (WS)].

Anastoechus villosus Paramonov, 1930: 475 (125). Type locality: Russia (Far East). Anastoechus asiaticus var. albulus Paramonov, 1940: 264 , 401. Type locality: Mongolia & Russia (Eastern Siberia) & “Tjanschanj” [= China (Xinjiang) or Kyrgyz Republic].

Diagnosis. Frons subtriangular; occiput with long sparse black and white erect hairs. Hairs on thorax mostly yellowish. Abdomen black with white dust. Epandrium curved at mid-posterior portion or margin in dorsal view; gonocoxite distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; epiphallus turriform, with an acute tip in dorsal view.

Redescription. Male. Body length 9 mm, wing length 8 mm.

Head ( Fig. 1 ) black with pale dust. Hairs on head black and white; frons subtriangular, with long dense black and white erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs; occiput with long sparse black and white erect hairs. Antenna black except first flagellomere brown; scape elongate with long dense white hairs; first flagellomere elongate, bare, with a stylus at tip. Proboscis black, bare, nearly three times longer than head.

Thorax black with brown dust. Hairs on thorax mostly yellowish; postpronotal lobe with long dense yellowish hairs, mesonotum with long sparse yellowish hairs; thorax almost bare on back, anepisternum and katepisternum with long dense white hairs. Scutellum black with brown dust anteriorly, with long sparse white hairs. Legs yellow except femora black. Hairs on legs mostly yellow, bristles yellow. Femora with dense white scales, fore femur with white hairs basely; tibiae and tarsi with short yellow hairs and sparse yellowish scales. Hind femur with four av. Fore tibia with seven ad, eight pd, five pv; mid tibia with eight ad, eight pd, five av, five pv; hind tibia with seven ad, eight pd, six av, six pv. Wing ( Fig. 11 ) uniformly pale brown except base brown. Vein r-m close to tip of cell dm, cell r5 closed. Base of vein C with brush-like long black bristles and white hairs. Halteres dark brown.

Abdomen black with white dust. Hairs on abdomen mostly white; dorsum with long dense white erect hairs and brown bristle laterally, dorsum with long sparse white hairs on back, tergites 5–7 with dense brown bristles. Sternites with long dense white erect and recumbent hairs.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 21–26 ). Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly higher than long; cercus well exposed in lateral view; epandrium nearly as wide as long, curves mid-posteriorly in dorsal view; gonocoxite distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; gonostylus oval, its tip acute in lateral view; epiphallus turriform, acute at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with a rather long and narrow slightly curved tip in lateral view.

Female. Body length 9 mm, wing length 8 mm. Similar to male, but frons parallel-sided; abdomen tergites 1–4 with a row of brown bristles posteriorly, sternite 4 with brown hairs.
