Stethorus vagans (Blackburn)

Scymnus vagans Blackburn, 1892: 248 . Stethorus vagans: Weise 1908: 13 .

This ladybug is widespread in open areas, from secondary shrubs to agricultural lands (orchards, gardens). It has been recorded from Australia including Tasmania, and Vanuatu. Predation has been recorded by Chazeau (1979) on several Tetranychidae mites: Bryobia pretiosa Koch , Oligonychus thelytokus Gutierrez , Tetranychus lambi Prittchard & Baker , T. marianae McGregor , T. neocaledonicus André , T. urticae Koch. A female specimen was falsely assigned by Bielawski (1973) to S. bifidus Kapur. This was corrected by Chazeau (1979).
