Orcus australasiae (Boisduval)
Coccinella australasiae Boisduval, 1835: 593 .
Orcus australasiae var. quadrinotatus Lea 1902: 491 .
This species was quoted from New Caledonia by Korschefsky (1931). This Australian species, distinctive by its large size and coloration, has apparently never been collected from New Caledonia. Specimens from the Montrouzier collection had Sydney as locality ( Laczynski & Tomaszewska 2009). We consider this record as an erroneous one and the species should be deleted from the New Caledonian checklist.
