Type Locality: "Gubon" [ Gabon].
Vernacular Names: Black-footed Mongoose.
Distribution: Nigeria to N Angola.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Rosevear (1974) placed nigripes in Galeriscus . Kingdon (1977) considered jacksoni conspecific with nigripes ; however, Rosevear (1974) and Coetzee (1977 b) noted skull and skin differences.
