Etymology. From Latin, tuber, swelling, bulb, referring to the tubercle on the margin of tergite IX.

Diagnostic characters. The new species differs from C. nervosus (Meigen) in the banding pattern of the tergites. It can be distinguished from other members of the genus by the unique wing pattern and by the presence of a tubercle on tergite IX.

Male (n = 1). Total length 4.8 mm. Wing length 2.33 mm. Total length / wing length 2.06. Wing length / length of profemur 2.16.

Coloration. Head including antenna brown. Ground color of thorax pale brown; scutum with five black spots; preepisternum brown; postnotum with one black and two brown spots ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11–14 ). Ground color of abdomen brown; tergites II–VII each with single narrow dark band; hypopygium brown ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11–14 ). Ground color of legs brown; apex of all femur and tibia dark brown; fore ta 3–5 and mid- and hind ta 4–5 dark brown. Wing with brown transverse band from distal R 1 to mid M 1+2; R–M covered by round brown spot ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11–14 ).

Head. AR 2.5. Temporal setae 14 including 12 verticals and 2 postorbitals. Clypeus with 22 setae. Tentorium 160 µm long, 50 µm wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 65, 70, 150, 165, 215.

Wing ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11–14 ). VR 1.1. Costal extension 90 µm long. Brachiolum with 4 long setae. Squama with 26 setae.

Thorax. Antepronotals 2, dorsocentrals 16, acrostichals 8, prealars 10, preepisternals 14, postnotals 3. Scutellum with 8 setae.

Legs. Spur on foretibia 73 µm long without lateral teeth; spurs on midtibia 55 and 68 µm long with 7 lateral teeth; spurs on hind tibia 53 and 98 µm long with 6 and 7 lateral teeth; apex of ta 1– ta 3 of mid- and hind legs each with 1 pseudospur; weak comb on foretibia with 20 setae; comb on hind tibia double with 12 plus 16 setae. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 3.

Hypopygium ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 11–14 ). Tergite IX concave, medially with small tubercle, with 21 short setae on each side. Anal point indistinct. Gonocoxite 253 µm long, cylindrical, outer margin convex with 8 setae. Gonostylus 128 µm long, robust, swollen basally. Megaseta 5 µm long. HR 1.98, HV 3.76.
