13. Phyllophaga (Phyllophaga) thoracica (Burmeister, 1855)
Redescription. Male genital capsule ( Fig. 62 View FIGURE 62 ) is strongly sclerotized, parameres are short and joined at the base by a membrane; the aedeagus is membranous and cylindrical, with a basal projection adorned with fine, long setae, and ending in a long, setose whip dorsally.
Comments. This species was described from male and female specimens found in “ Venezuela ”. Burmeister (1855) mentioned its similarity to P. fragilipennis (Burmeister) . Frey (1975) illustrated the distal part of the genital capsule ( Fig. 62 View FIGURE 62 ), and placed it close to P. bicolor (Moser) from Ecuador, and inaccurately recorded it from Colombia.
Geographic record. Departamento del Cauca: Municipio de Buenos Aires (1,640 m) 21 October 1999; municipio de Caldono (1,670 m) 10 October, 5 November, 1999, Luis Carlos Pardo-Locarno. 2 males, 1 female.
