Type Locality: Honduras, Comayagua, Cueva de Taulabe, 14°41'42"N, 87°57'07"W. GoogleMaps
Vernacular Names: Sowell's Short-tailed Bat.
Distribution: San Luis Potosi ( Mexico) south to W Panama.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Not evaluated (new species).
Discussion: Specimens of this species were previously referred to brevicauda , which is now thought to be restricted to E Panama and South America; see Wright et al. (1999), Baker et al. (2002), and Hoffman and Baker (2003). It is possible that these taxa occur in sympatry in Panama, but this has not yet been demonstrated.
