Paratryssaturus cantermus Cook, 1983

( Fig. 2K View FIGURE 2 A – L , 21 View FIGURE 21 A–B)

Material examined. New Zealand, South Island, Selwyn River near Coalgate, 10.v.2004, 0/2/0 (0/1/0 mounted).

Remarks. Due to the subterminal position of excretory pore ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 A) and pronounced projection on IV- L-2 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 B), the specimens from Selwyn river show conformity with Paratryssaturus cantermus Cook, 1983 , a widespread species reported from North and South Island ( Cook 1983). Differences are found in the dorsal shield ornamentation which consists of a reticulate pattern ( Fig. 2K View FIGURE 2 A – L ) but is lacking the papillae characteristic for P. cantermus (see Cook 1983, Fig. 590). The variability of further specimens needs to be examined to clarify the taxonomy.

Distribution. New Zealand; previously reported from North and South Island ( Cook 1983).
