Liolaemus sp2

This species is distributed in different localities in Oruro department, Bolivia. It presents character states that resemble those of Liolaemus alticolor , but exhibits some differences. Individuals of L. sp2 show spots over the dorsum of head, which are absent in L. alticolor . The species differs from L. alticolor in color background and spots in the lateral field. The color patterns of ventrolateral and ventral regions of body are also different. Some character states are: 37–44 (X=40.5; SD= 2.1) scales around midbody; 37–43 (X= 39.6; SD= 2.1) scales between occiput and hindlimbs; 62–73 (X= 66.7; SD= 3.82) ventral scales; 12–13 (X= 12.5; SD= 0.55) scales in dorsum of head (Hellmich’s Index); 4–5 (X= 4.7; SD= 0.58) superciliaries; 6–7 (X= 6.5; SD= 0.58) surrounding nasal; nasal scale always in contact with rostral, but separated from canthal by one scale; 7–8 (X= 7.8; SD= 0.5) weakly keeled temporals; auricular scales evident; 29–34 (X= 31.3; SD= 1.98) laminar and keeled scales of neck; 6–8 (X= 6.5; SD= 0.71) lorilabials; subocular scale whitish; 6–8 (X= 6.4; SD= 0.69) supralabials and 4–5 (X= 4.4; SD= 0.52) infralabials; fourth supralabial upturned and in contact with subocular in 45% of specimens studied; 3–5 (X= 3.4; SD= 0.89) precloacal pores present in males only. Max-SVL= 52.79 (X= 45.46; SD= 4.49); head length (X= 9.96; SD= 0.75); head width (X= 7.4; SD= 0.64); trunk length (X= 22.12; SD= 2.04); humerus length (X= 3.8; SD= 0.43); tibia length (X= 5.3; SD= 0.75); tail length (X= 81.2; SD= 6.98). Color pattern: dorsolateral stripes, vertebral line in dorsum of body and tail evident. Without paravertebral spots. Lateral field brown with black spots. Ventrolateral region gray with black spots. Throat light gray with black lines. Chest and belly light gray without spots, in males darker than in females. Tail ventrally speckled.
