Liolaemus sp7

This taxon is distributed in Pilcaniyeu department, Río Negro province, Argentina. It presents a color patter resembling that of Liolaemus bibronii , but some character states distinguish it from L. bibronii . Nasal scale is separated from rostral in L. sp7, whereas in L. bibronii these two scales are in broad contact. In L. bibronii , three scales separate the subocular from canthal; in L. sp7 four scales separate these two scales. The anterior margin of the auricular meatus shows enlarged scales in L. bibronii , which are absent in Liolaemus sp7. L. sp7 has 45–57 (X= 50.2; SD= 3.34) scales around midbody; 44–53 (X= 47.4; SD= 2.73) scales between occiput and hindlimbs; 75–89 (X= 82.1; SD= 4.46) ventrals; 10–14 (X= 11.3; SD= 1.10) scales in dorsal head (Hellmich’s Index); 5–6 (X= 5.1; SD= 0.33) superciliaries; 6–8 (X= 7; SD= 0.45) scales surrounding nasal; nasal separated from rostral by one scale, and separated from canthal by two scales; 7–9 (X= 8.1; SD= 0.54) smooth and laminar temporals; auricular scale evident in 80% of specimens studied; 29–35 (X= 32.1; SD= 2.39) laminar and smooth neck scales; 6–7 (X= 6.4; SD= 0.5) lorilabials; subocular whitish; 6 supralabials and 4–5 (X= 4.3; SD= 0.5) infralabials; fourth supralabial upturned and in contact with subocular in 36% of specimens studied; 3–4 (X= 3.4; SD= 0.55) precloacal pores in males, absent in females. Max-SVL= 56.77 (X= 53.1; SD= 2.61); head length (X= 11.1; SD= 0.64); head width (X= 8.39; SD= 0.55); trunk length (X= 27.42; SD= 1.82); humerus length (X= 5.5; SD= 0.41); tibia length (X= 7.6; SD= 0.93); tail length (X= 77.71; SD=8.52). Color pattern: dorsolateral stripes, vertebral line in dorsum of body and tail, and rounded paravertebral spots evident. Lateral field brown, with black irregular spots and vertical lines. Ventrolateral zone light brown with black lines and spots. Throat gray with black spots. Chest and belly spotless gray. Dorsally, the tail exhibits vertebral line and paravertebral spots. Ventral region of tail with gray spots.
