Type Locality: Indonesia, Prov. of Papua, Sorong Div., Waigeo Isl, Njanjef.
Vernacular Names: Beaufort's Naked-backed Fruit Bat.
Distribution: Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati, Gebe, Gag, and Biak Isls (off Vogelkop Peninsula, New Guinea).
Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – No Data: Limited Distribution. IUCN 2003 – Endangered.
Discussion: viridis species group. Closely related to viridis ; see Bergmans (1975). Also see Flannery (1995 b).
