Hosts. Juncaceae : Juncus * marginatus Rostk.

Leaf mine. A long, yellowish, interparenchymal mine, with the frass deposited in a single large lump. Up to three larvae may feed in a common mine ( Spencer & Steyskal 1986; Ellis 2018). M. Palmer (in litt.) noted that one of the adults exited through a hole 1 cm away from its puparium.

Puparium. Slender, brown; formed within the mine ( Spencer & Steyskal 1986; Ellis 2018).

Distribution. USA: AK, CA, CO, NY, * OK, OR, TX ( Boucher 2005), WA; Canada: NS ( Frick 1959), NT; Mexico ( Boucher 2005); Europe.

Comments. This is the first North American rearing record for Cerodontha (Dizygomyza) luctuosa .
