Glyptosternon interspinalum Mai 1978 ZBK : 271, fig. 120. Type locality: Creeks in n. Vietnam .? DVZUT.
Glyptothorax merus Li 1984 ZBK : [English p. 86], fig. 2. Type locality: Yunnan , China. Holotype: KIZ 737159 . Paratypes: KIZ (14). Listed as a synonym of Glyptothorax interspinalum by Chu et al. (1990).
Distribution: Red River drainage, Vietnam and China (Li, 1984b; Chu et al., 1999; Kottelat, 2001a).
