Coxa 1 short, suboval, anterior margin convex. Gnathopod 1 subchelate, carpus triangular. Gnathopod 2 mitten-shaped, carpus slender and long; propodus palm very short, parachelate; dactylus much longer than palm. Uropods rami lancelate. Uropod 2 inner ramus without notch. Uropod 3 outer ramus 2-articulate, inner ramus shorter than outer ramus article 1. Telson almost as long as wide, notched to ~50% cleft (modified from De Broyer 1975; J.L. Barnard and Karaman 1991).

Genus remarks

The diagnosis of the genus and family is here expanded to accommodate the new species described below. Important and new characters were observed in the literature and in our new species that might be useful for generic assignments, such as: very short antennae, subequal to or little longer than head length; lower lip inner lobe poorly developed or absent; maxilla 1 inner plate naked or with a short apical seta, outer plate with 5–7 robust setae; gnathopod 2 palm very short and parachelate; and rami of uropods lanceolate.
