The holotype is deposited in NMPC (ex coll. V. Balthasar):
HOLOTYPE (J): ‘Afr. occ. - Guinea / Ober-Niger [hw] // Onthophagus / bilingula / n. sp. Balth. / J [hw] Holotypus [p] 64 [hw, pink label]’.
Current status. Valid species.
Remark. TAGLIAFERRI et al. (2012) indicated its possible placement in the subgenus Bicornonthophagus Tagliaferri & Moretto, 2012 .
