Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Onthophagus rufaticollis d’Orbigny, 1904 , see GÉNIER (2003).

Remark. According to GÉNIER (2003), the holotype of O. caucanus is mislabeled and it was collected in subsaharan Africa.
