Chelymorpha soricina Boheman 1862:205 Chelymorpha styga Boheman 1862:212

Male. Length 9.2 mm, width 7 mm (n=1). Brown.

HEAD. Surface brown, pubescent, rugose. Prosternum smooth, pubescent, with folds close to prosternal collar. Gena surface pubescent, with fine punctures. Interocular width no more than 2 times diameter of eyes. Antennae reaching pronotal base; antennomere III shorter than IV, antennomere I shorter than XI. Clypeus oval in shape, 1.5–2 times wider than long; surface with large punctures and scattered setae. Labrum 2–3 times wider than long; surface smooth.

THORAX. Pronotum convex, 2 times wider long, surface pubescent, brown; anterior margin emarginated, margination U-shaped; base bisinous; hind angles sharp and produced behind with fine punctures; explanate margin with close coarse punctures; pronotal disc with a glabrous longitudinal groove and three black spots, one medial near base, two spots proximate and near hind angle. Scutellum triangular, depressed between elytra; surface smooth, brown. Elytra surface pubescent, brown; punctures moderately coarse; humeri rounded, black, surface with punctures. Prosternal process pubescent, with distinctive groove, apex truncated. Mesosternal process deeply notched.

ABDOMEN. Ventrites surface smooth, pubescent, brown. Aedeagus length 1.5 mm, sharp apex (Fig. 20 G).

Female. Similar to male; oval shaped. Length 11 mm, width 8.7 mm (n=1). Black. Interocular width 1.5 times diameter of eyes. Clypeus less 2 times wider than long; labrum 2 times wider than long. Pronotum 2 times wider than long. Spermatheca well sclerotized (Fig. 20 G), over 2 times longer than wide; apex acute, with velum; spermathecal duct weakly coiled.

Comparative note. This species is distinguished from the remaining Ogdoecosta species by the absence of spots on the elytra. It resembles O. catenulata but the latter has a prosternal process moderately grooved with apex rounded.

Remark. Only the holotype of O. matris (synonym of O. soricina ) (Figs 18 A–C) and a specimen of Chelymorpha styga (Figs 18 D–E)was studied here and compared with photographs of the holotype of O. soricina (Figs 18 F–G).

Host plant. Unknown.

Known distribution. Costa Rica, Colombia and Panama (Borowiec & Świętojańska 2015; Sekerka 2016).

Type material examined. O. matris : Holotype ( MMUE) (Figs 18 A–C). Costa Rica: San Carlos.

Additional material examined. 1 specimens with the following localities:

Chelymorpha styga (Figs 18 D–E). Colombia. Nova Granada | 39316 ( BMNH, 1 female)
