Generitype of Xyris Linnaeus.

Current name: Xyris indica L. ( Xyridaceae ).

Note: Rendle (in J. Bot. 37: 497-499. 1899) and Nilsson (in Kongl. Svenska Vetensk. Acad. Handl., n.s., 24(14): 38. 1892) discussed the original elements for this name in some detail but did not choose a type for the Old World element to which this name has long been applied.
