Solenodon marcanoi Patterson 1962 , Breviora, 165: 2.

Type Locality: Dominican Republic, San Rafael Prov., Hondo Valle Mun.; unnamed cave 2 km SW of Rancho La Guardia.

Vernacular Names: Marcano's Solenodon.

Distribution: Known from three Quaternary localities in S Haítí and one Pleistocene site in W Dominican Republic ( Ottenwalder, 2001:318).

Conservation: IUCN – Extinct.

Discussion: Originally described in genus Antillogale by Patterson (1962). Reviewed by Ottenwalder (2001).
