Type species: Odynerus alecto Lepeletier 1841 , by original designation).
Taxonomy: Giordani Soika 1962 [1961]: 81–82 (key to species), 92 (subgenus of Pseudepipona de Saussure ).—van der Vecht 1963a: 74 (key), 88 (subgenus of Anterhynchium de Saussure ).— Giordani Soika 1971: 78 (genus).— Cardale 1985: 174–176 (cat. Australian species).— Giordani Soika 1986c: 74 (subgenus of Anterhynchium ).
Distribution: This subgenus is found in Southeast Asia, Oceania and Australia, with two species in Madagascar.
Ethology: One species has been reported to nest in holes in a mud brick wall; prey: lepidopteran larvae. We have observed several Australian species bringing caterpillars to holes in an abandoned termite mound.
