Female: Dorsal shield smooth, with lateral striations, 302 long, 166 wide, with four pairs of pores. Measurements of dorsal setae, j1 22, j3 76, j4 12, j6 92, J5 5, z2 12, z4 76, z5 4, Z1 100, Z4 94, Z5 85, s4 94, r3 25, R1 58, JV5 53. Setae j3, j6, Z1, Z4, Z5, s4, R1 serrated, remaining setae smooth, j5, J2, S2, S4, S5 absent. Peritreme free on integument and reaching level of z2. Sternal shield smooth, distances between St I-St II 54, St II- St II 75, St III on platelets, St IV free on integument. Genital shield 80 wide. Ventri-anal shield 72 long, 72 wide, with a pair of minute lateral pre-anal pores. Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites, caudoventral setae (JV1, JV2, JV4, JV5, ZV1, ZV2) on integument surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with three teeth, clustered distally, movable digit with three teeth. Spermatheca calyx elongate, 22 long, gradually flared distally, atrium bifid, 3 long. Macrosetae St IV 102 long. Chaetotaxy: genu I 2, 2/1, 2/1, 2, genu II 2, 2/0, 2/1, 1, genu III 1, 2/1, 2/ 0, 1.

Remarks. The female holotype and male paratype were collected from Salisbury (= Harare), Southern Rhodesia (= Zimbabwe), December 19, 1957 ( Takahashi & Chant, 1993). This species has also been recorded from South Africa and South America ( Takahashi & Chant, 1993). It has also been introduced to Kenya from Brazil for the control of the tomato red spider mite, where it was collected from the rearing unit, International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology, Nairobi, Kenya, April 2009 (Miriam).
