27. Myrcia sylvatica (G.Mey.) De Candolle (1828: 244) ; McVaugh (1958: 662–663) [ Fig. 4C, D View FIGURE 4 ; Fig. 6H View FIGURE 6 ] Known from Costa Rica to Brazil where it is founded in north and northeastern regions ( Govaerts et al. 2010, Sobral et al. 2010).

Trees and shrubs 3–7 m tall. Morphologicaly similar to Myrcia splendens but differs by having ovate leaves and a sulcate midvein on the adaxial lamina surface; it differs from other Myrcia species by a pilose hypanthium and ellipsoid fruit.
