Adult. ( Figs. 3K View FIGURE 3 ). See also Janse (Pl. 195, Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). Wingspan 11 – 12 mm.

Diagnosis. One of the smallest species of Lecithocera in Africa. It is similar to L. binotata , but can be distinguished by the male genitalia.

Male genitalia. See Janse (1954, Pl. 141, Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 - line drawing; Pl. 152, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 - photo). The male genitalia are characterized by the valve tapering from basal half toward apex and the juxta emarginated in V-shape on caudal margin.

Material examined. Type no. 586 (lectotype ♂, designated here) and type no. 587 (paralectotype ♂, gen. slide no. CIS-6577), [ South Africa], Barberton, leg. A. J. T. Janse, both deposited in TMSA, fig. 3K. Additional specimen: 1♂, [ South Africa], Barberton, 20 i 1911, leg. A.J.T. Janse, gen. slide no. CIS-6576.

Distribution. South Africa (Mpumalanga) ( Meyrick 1913).

Remarks. The species was described based on three males collected from Barberton, South Africa in December, and two type specimens are deposited in the TMSA.
