Torodora Meyrick, 1894 View in CoL

Type species: Torodora characteris Meyrick, 1894 .

More than 170 Torodora species have been known in the world, which are mostly distributed in the Oriental and Palaearctic Regions with a few exceptions. In the Afrotropical Region, two species: T. hybrista (Meyrick, 1922) from Senegal and T. monobyrsa (Meyrick, 1931) from Uganda, have been reported, but many of the Lecithocera species described from Africa, but not occurring in southern Africa, probably might need to be transferred to Torodora . Only Lecithocera ochrometra Meyrick, 1933 occurs on the northern border of the southern African Region as defined in Vári et al. (2002).
