Lectotype (Woodson in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 41: 151. 1954): Herb. Linn. No. 310.33 ( LINN) . - Epitype (Goyder & Nicholas in Kew Bull. 56: 782. 2001): South Africa. Northern Cape, Bloeddrif, 12 Sep 1968, Hardy 2562 (K; iso- PRE, WIND).

Current name: Gomphocarpus fruticosus (L.) W.T. Aiton View in CoL View at ENA ( Asclepiadaceae ).

Note: Woodson cited the sheet number of the type as “310.23” (which relates to A. incarnata L. ) but this appears to have been a simple error for “310.33”.
