Bryothinusa peyerimhoffi ( Fauvel 1904)

Diglossa peyerimhoffi Fauvel 1904:73 [original description]. Fenyes 1918:67 [catalog entry, as member of the genus Diglotta]. Bernhauer and Scheerpeltz 1926:509 [catalog entry, as member of genus Diglotta]. Pace 1987:275 [transferred to Bryothinusa ; nomenclatorial history; redescription, illustrated; lectotype designation].

Distribution. Red Sea, ‘‘Golfe d’Agabah, Arabie’’ ( Pace 1987). (I have interpreted this to be the same as the Gulf of Aqaba that forms the eastern border of the Sinai Peninsula. This is consistent with the catalog entries of Fenyes (1918) of ‘‘Arabia’’ and Bernhauer and Scheerpeltz (1926) of ‘‘Sinai.’’ However, Haghebaert (1995) lists the distribution of this species as Perim Island in the Red Sea and Palestine in the Mediterranean Sea; he does not provide any new data to support this distribution.
