Synaldis lozanoae Peris –Felipo, sp. nov.

Etymology. Named in honor Noelia Lozano Pérez for her valuable help to the first author.

Type material. Holotype: female, Spain, Castellon Province, Pobla de Benifassà, Natural Park of Tinença de Benifassà, 23.05.2005 (F.J. Peris–Felipo leg. ( ENV). Paratypes: 4 females, 1 male same label as in holotype, but 31.05, 13.06 & 25.07.2005, 12.06.2006 and 05.02.2007; 1 male, Spain, Alicante Province, Alcoi, Natural Park of Carrascal de La Font Roja, 14.05.2007 ( ENV, ZISP).

Description. Female.

Head entirely smooth; in dorsal view, 1.4 times as wide as median length, 1.65 times as wide as mesoscutum, with rounded temples behind eye. Eye in lateral view 1.65 times as high as wide and 0.7 times as wide as temple medially. POL 1.65 times OD; OOL 3.65 times OD. Face 1.95 times as wide as high; inner margins of eyes subparallel. Clypeus slightly curved ventrally, 3.2 times as wide as high. Paraclypeal fovea reaching middle distance between clypeus and eye. Mandible widened towards apex, 1.05 times as long as its maximum width. Upper tooth of mandible longer than middle tooth; middle tooth wide basally and narrowed towards apex, rounded apically; lower tooth shorter than upper tooth, rounded apically. Antennae thick, 15–segmented. Scape 1.65 times as long as pedicel. First flagellar segment almost 2.0 times as long as its apical width, as long as second segment; second segment almost 2.0 times as long as its maximum width. Third to sixth flagellar segments 1.3–1.5 times, seventh to ninth segments 1.8–1.9 times, and tenth to twelfth segments 1.60–1.75 times as long as their width. Thirteenth flagellar segment 1.9 times as long as its maximum width.

Mesosoma 1.25 times as long as high (lateral view). Mesoscutum 1.1 times as long as maximum width. Notauli mainly absent. Mesoscutal pit present, elongate. Prescutellar depression smooth, without lateral carinae. Precoxal suture present, not reaching anterior and posterior margins of mesopleuron. Posterior mesopleural furrow crenulate below. Propodeum sculptured, with short median longitudinal carina reaching middle part of propodeum and with diverging carinae reaching propodeal sides. Propodeal spiracles small, 0.2 times as long as distance between spiracle and apical margin of propodeum.

Wings. Length of fore wing 2.9 times its maximum width. Radial cell reaching apex of wing, 4.65 times as long as its maximum width. Nervulus weakly postfurcal. Brachial cell closed, short, widened apically, 2.75 times as long as its maximum width. Hind wing 6.5 times as long as its maximum width.

Legs. Hind femur 3.5 times as long as its maximum width. Hind tibia weakly widened towards apex, 9.6 times as long as its maximum subapical width, 1.25 times as long as hind tarsus. First segment of hind tarsus 1.4 times as long as second segment.

Metasoma distinctly compressed. First tergite finely striate in apical half, weakly widened towards apex, 1.4 times as long as its apical width. Ovipositor 1.2 times as long as first tergite, distinctly shorter than metasoma, 1.7 times as long as hind femur.

Colour. Body and legs brown to dark brown. Wings hyaline. Pterostigma brown.

Body length 1.15 mm; fore wing length 1.3 mm.

Variation. Body length 1.1–1.2 mm; fore wing length 1.2–1.4 mm. Antenna 15–17–segmented. First flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its maximum width. Mandible 1.05–1.10 times as long as wide.

Male. Body length 1.15 mm; fore wing length 1.3 mm. Antenna 18–segmented. First flagellar segment 3.25 times as long as its maximum width; second segment 2.75 times as long as its maximum width. Hind femur 4.0 times as long as its maximum width.

Diagnosis. According to the key by Fischer (2003), new species is similar to S. lacessiva Fischer, 1975 , S. fraudulenda (Papp, 1981) , S. jordanica Fischer, 1993 and S. madeiracola Fischer, 2003 . S. lozanoae sp. nov. differs from S. lacessiva in having the first flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its width (1.25 times in S. lacessiva ), hind femur 3.5 times as long as its maximum width (3.0 times in S. lacessiva ), and first metasomal tergite 1.4 times as long as its apical width (2.0 times in S. lacessiva ). New speies differs from S. fraudulenta in having the first flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its width (3.0 times in S. fraudulenta ), hind femur 3.5 times as long as its maximum width (4.0 times in S. fraudulenta ), and the first metasomal tergite 1.4 times as long as its apical width (2.0 times in S. fraudulente ). S. lozanoae also differs from S. jordanica in having the hind femur 3.5 times as long as its maximum width (4.0 times in S. jordanica ) and the first metasomal tergite 1.4 times as long as its apical width (1.8 times in S. jordanica ). Finally, S. lozanoae differs from S. madeiracola in having the first flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its width (2.5 times in S. madeiracola ), middle flagellar segments 1.3– 1.9 times as long as their width (1.1 times in S. madeiracola ), and head in dorsal view 1.4 times as wide as its median length (1.8 times in S. madeiracola ).

According to the key by Belokobylskij (2004b), new species also resembles S. distracta (Nees, 1834) and S. propedistractam Papp, 1993 . S. lozanoae differs from S. distracta in having the first flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its width (3.0 times in S. distracta ), the first metasomal tergite 1.4 times as long as its apical width (2.0 times in S. distracta ), and head in dorsal view 1.4 times as wide as median length (2.0 times in S. distracta ). Finally, new species differs from S. propedistractam in having the first flagellar segment 1.95–2.00 times as long as its width (3.0 times in S. propedistractam ), hind femur 3.5 times as long as its maximum width (4.0 times in S. propedistractam ), and the first metasomal tergite 1.4 times as long as its apical width (1.7 times in S. propedistractam ).
