Diagnosis

den Heyer (1979a) gave a full description of this species. The Iranian material shows some geographical variations from that description as indicated below.

Female ( Figure 3C–E View Figure 3 ) (n = 8)

Dimensions. Idiosoma: length 322 (251–378); width 232 (192–257); hypognathum: length 154 (135–162); width 84 (73–95); palp length 185 (162–202); chelicera length 143 (135–162); length of leg: leg I 279 (257–297); leg II 253 (221–273); leg III 283 (259–297); leg IV 320 (284–351); sensillae length: vi 171 (162–189), sce 228 (197–257). Dorsum and venter show no obvious differences. Palpi differ only in very minor detail ( Figure 3C View Figure 3 , Iran). Legs: basifemur III with three sts; genu I with three asl (South African material possesses an additional alveolus lacking the usual solenidion); genua III and IV, each with one asl, four sts, one ms; st-setae on tarsi I–IV vary around 22 or 23 or 24–25 or 21–20 or 21 ( Figure 3D View Figure 3 , Iranian specimen: Figure 3E View Figure 3 , South African specimen).

Dimensions and description. Idiosoma: length 216; width 140; hypognathum: length 124; width 65; palp length 145; chelicera length 108; leg length: leg I 238–243; leg II 216–221; leg III 232–243.; leg IV 248–254; sensillae length: vi 157–160, sce 200–205. Palp of Iranian male depicted in Figure 3F View Figure 3 . Other obvious variations are: basifemur III with three sts while basifemur IV possesses one sts. Tarsal chaetotaxy I–IV is: (1 long bsl, 1 fmls, 1 sts), 3 asl, 1 dtsl, 2 tsl, 19 or 20 sts- 1 long bsl, 1 dtsl, 1 tsl, 21 or 22 sts- 1 tsl, 21 sts- 17 sts ( Figure 3G View Figure 3 , South African specimen).
