Distribution. Argentina, Brazil (Bahia, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, São Paulo) and Paraguay (Borowiec & Świętojańska 2024). New species to Ceará State, Brazil.

New record. BRAZIL: Ceará, Serra do Baturité , Guaramiranga, RPPN Sítio Lagoa, 30.XI–07.XII.2021, M. L. Monné leg., 3 spec. ( MNRJ: MNRJ-ENT7 45733, 45732, 45738); 29.IV-27. V .2022, S.P. Carvalho-Fernandes, leg., 1 spec. ( MNRJ) .

Collecting method. Malaise trap.

Species diagnosis. This species has a unique pattern among South American species of Microctenochira Spaeth, 1926 formed by yellow elytra with black punctures in combination with the presence of humeral and posterolateral spots on the ventral side of the explanate margin and numerous black spots on the pronotal disc. The only similar species, M. optata (Boheman, 1855) , differs in disc of pronotum largely brown to black, elytra with combined brown and black pattern, the humeral and posterolateral spots situated also on upper side of the explanate margin of elytra and often connected (always separated in M. aciculala ).
