Distribution: EC Argentina; limits uncertain.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Described as a subspecies of P. darwini but considered distinct by Reig (1978) and Galliari et al. (1996); determination of status and distribution requires fresh investigation.
