Type material

Schisturella robusta robusta (J. L. Barnard, 1961) . H  , W, 10 mm, ( ZMUC), CRU-1976, Galathea Sta. 607, Tasman Sea, 44°18∞S, 166°46∞E, 3580 m, 17 January 1952 .

Remarks

No new material was collected of this taxon, but the type specimen was borrowed and compared to the new species, Schisturella spinirama . Some new drawings are provided, as the original illustrations of J. L. Barnard (1961) are small and unclear.

Although this male specimen has penial papillae, it may not be fully mature. Evidence of this is shown in the relatively weak callynophore of antenna 1, short flagellum of antenna 2 and lack of calceoli.

Distribution Tasman Sea in 3580 m depth.
