Aeolothrips deserticola Priesner, 1929: 61

This Saharo-Arabian species was described from Egypt and is widespread from Canary Islands to middle east. It not only shares most structural details with A. tenuicornis but is also similar in habitat and host plants. The species can be distinguished by antennal segment V shorter than VI–IX together (V 57–63µm, VI–IX 80–85µm), whereas in A. tenuicornis segment V is longer than or as long as VI–IX together (V 73–75µm, VI–IX 75–78µm).
