Scirtothrips mangiferae Priesner View in CoL View at ENA
Scirtothrips mangiferae Priesner, 1932: 143 View in CoL
This is a Saharo Arabian species that was first described from Egypt ( Priesner 1932b). However, it is widespread from North Africa to Middle east and Pakistan. In Saudi Arabia, it breeds largely on Conocarpus erectus View in CoL and Mangifera indica View in CoL . It is similar to S. fulleri View in CoL , S. inermis View in CoL and S. spinosus View in CoL in having 4 pairs of setae laterally on the tergal microtrichial fields, but S. mangiferae View in CoL can be distinguished from S. fulleri View in CoL and S. inermis View in CoL by wavy fore wing posteromarginal cilia (in contrast to straight) and from S. spinosus View in CoL by posteromarginal pronotal setae no more than 0.4 as long as median length of pronotum (in contrast to more than 0.6 times as long median length of pronotum).
