Vernacular Names: Chalchalero Vizcacha Rat.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
Discussion: Analysis of morphological data (Mares et al., 2000) suggests sister taxon relationship with Pipanacoctomys and close relationship with Tympanoctomys .
