Distribution: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, Ghana, Togo, and Nigeria to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Ethiopia south to Namibia, Botswana, Uganda, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: plicatus species group. Reviewed in part by Nader and Kock (1979), Harrison and Bates (1991), and Taylor (1999); also see Willis et al. (2002).
