( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1–7. 1–6 )

Tropanisopodus tachira Monné & Monné, 2007: 1058 View in CoL ; Monné, 2018: 188 (cat.).

Description. Male. Head dark brown, almost black; apex of last labial and maxillary palpomeres reddish brown; pronotum dark brown, almost black; sides of prothorax blackish; prosternum dark brown, slightly lighter than on pronotum; prosternal process slightly dark reddish brown toward apex; scape mostly dark brown; pedicel partially dark reddish brown; antennomeres reddish brown, gradually lighter toward XI, except dark brown distal area (this area gradually lighter toward XI); ventral surface of meso- and metathorax dark brown, irregularly interspersed with dark reddish-brown areas; elytra dark brown, slightly lighter toward apex, except black lateral area of anterior half; profemora dark brown, almost black; meso- and metafemora with peduncle dark reddish brown, irregularly interspersed with dark-brown areas, and club dark brown; protibia dark brown basally, gradually black toward apex; meso- and metatibiae dark brown, slightly blackish on distal area; protarsi black; meso- and metatarsi dark brown; abdominal ventrites I–IV dark brown except dark reddish-brown distal area; abdominal ventrite V dark brown, ir- regularly interspersed with dark reddish-brown areas.

Head. Frons finely, densely punctate; with yellowish-brown pubescence obscuring integument except glabrous area along median groove, yellower close to eyes; with a few long, erect dark setae close to eyes ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–7. 1–6 ). Area be- tween antennal tubercles and upper eye lobes finely, moderately abundantly punctate; remaining surface of vertex very finely, densely punctate; central fovea deep, somewhat V-shaped; entire surface of vertex and area behind upper eye lobes with yellowish brown pubescence obscuring integument, interspersed with whitish pubescence on some areas, except glabrous central fovea. Area behind lower eye lobes with dense yellowish pubescence close to eye, distinctly sparser, yellowish brown on remaining surface, becoming glabrous toward ventral surface. Genae with dense yellowish pubescence close to eye, sparse, yellowish-brown on remaining surface; with a few long, erect dark setae. Antennal tubercles with surface as on frons; pubescence yellowish frontally, yellowish brown toward posterior area. Median groove distinct from clypeus to near prothoracic margin. Postclypeus with yellowish-brown pubescence on wide central area, glabrous laterally; with a few long, erect dark setae laterally on wide central area. Labrum coplanar with anteclypeus at posterior half, inclined at anterior half; with moderately sparse yellowishwhite pubescence on posterior half, nearly glabrous on anterior half, except short fringe with golden pubescence on anterior margin; with long, erect, sparse, yellowish and brownish setae interspersed. Gulamentum smooth, glabrous on wide posterior area, depressed, finely, abundantly punctate, with yellowish-brown pubescence, not obscuring integument, on narrow anterior area. Distance between upper eye lobes 0.23 times length of scape; in frontal view, dis- tance between lower eye lobes 0.51 times length of scape. Antennae 2.5 times elytral length, reaching elytral apex at base of antennomere VI. Scape and pedicel with yellowish-gray pubescence obscuring integument; antennomere III with sparse yellowish-brown pubescence on basal third (more brownish depending on light intensity and angle source), gradually denser, yellowish-white toward apex (slightly sparser on distal area); remaining antennomeres with yellowish pubescence (more grayish-white depending on light intensity), nearly obscuring integument, except distal area with spare yellowish pubescence (appearing more brownish due to the color of integument). Antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III: scape = 1.11; pedicel = 0.12; IV = 1.12; V = 1.03; VI = 0.93; VII = 0.82; VIII = 0.77; IX = 0.73; X = 0.70; XI = 0.62.

Thorax. Lateral tubercles of prothorax acute, moderately large, placed in posterior third (the wide tumid area starting at about midlength of prothorax is not considered to be part of tubercle). Pronotum with three elongate, moderately elevated tubercles, one wide on each side of central area, slightly reniform, from anterior quarter to about posterior third, another smaller one centrally between lateral ones, more elevated posteriorly; coarsely, moderately abundantly punctate except smooth tubercles; with yellowish brown pubescence obscuring integument on anterior half and between and around tubercles, yellowish-white on posterior surface, except brownish pubescence on part of lateral tubercles. Sides of prothorax with dense yellowish-brown pubescence anteriorly, sparser, more brownish posteriorly (pubescence on this area appearing darker due to the integument color). Ventral surface of thorax with yellowish-white pubescence not obscuring integument, yellower, denser on mesanepisternum, mesepimeron, metanepisternum and sides of metaventrite. Scutellum with yellowish-white pubescence not obscuring integument.

Elytra. Moderately finely, abundantly punctate throughout; pubescence yellowish brown, yellowish white and grayish white, forming complex markings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–7. 1–6 ), with short, elongate dark-brown pubescent band about middle of dorsal surface, followed by longer, less distinct V-shaped pubescent band on posterior third, black lateral area with sparser yellowish pubescence (appearing darker due to the integument color); each elytron with two slightly distinct longitudinal carinae, from near base to posterior fifth, fused distally; elytral apex obliquely truncate, with outer angle rounded, and sutural angle slightly projected. Legs. Femora with yellowish-white pubescence (more grayish-white depending on light intensity), interspersed with irregular areas with brownish pubescence. Tibiae with dense yellowish-white pubescence (more grayish-white depending on light intensity) on anterior 2/3, brownish on distal third. Metatarsomere I about 2.5 times as long as II–III together; with yellowish-white pubescence on basal half (more grayish-white depending on light intensity), gradually brownish toward apex.

Abdomen. Ventrites with grayish-white pubescence nearly obscuring integument. Apex of ventrite V rounded, distinctly notched.

Variation. Sides of prothorax slightly dark reddish brown anteriorly; prosternal process entirely dark brown; wide central area of meso- and metatibiae dark reddish brown; distal third of metaventrite reddish brown; pubes- cence on labrum mostly yellow; pubescence on scutellum moderately dense, partially obscuring integument; elytral sutural angle distinctly projected. The general color of the holotype female is somewhat lighter than the three males examined but we consider that only another chromatic variation.

Dimensions (mm), male. Total length, 10.95–13.50; prothoracic length, 1.55–1.80; anterior prothoracic width, 1.95–2.20; posterior prothoracic width, 2.15–2.30; maximum prothoracic width (between apex of lateral tubercles), 2.70–3.15; humeral width, 3.50–4.00; elytral length, 8.25–9.40.

Material examined. COLOMBIA (New country record), Boyacá: Provincia del Norte (road 55 Susacon- Santa Rosita ; 3050 m; 6º10’40”N / 72º43’37”W), 2 males, 27-28.IV.2017, V. Sinyaev col. ( MZSP) GoogleMaps . Cundinamarca: Guasca ( Reserva Natural El Cholchal de Siecha ; 4º47’38”N / 73º51’05”W; 3150 m), 1 male, 1-3.V.2017, V. Sinyaev col. ( MZSP) GoogleMaps .

Remarks. The male of T. tachira differs from the female by the antennae slightly longer, reaching elytral apex at base of antennomere VI (in female, according to the original description they reach elytral base at apex of antennomere VII, but it is about the apex of antennomere VI in the photograph of the holotype), and apex of the metafemora distinctly surpassing elytral apex (not reaching elytral apex in female).
