Anisopodus auctus View in CoL ; Lacordaire, 1872: 770 (misspelled).

According to Monné & Martins (1976), Paranisopodus Monné & Martins, 1976 differs from Anisopodus White, 1855 , by the antennomere III distinctly elongate, and the following gradually shorter, lateral tubercle of the prothorax perpendicular and placed about posterior third, presence of tubercles on pronotum, elytral centro basal crest distinctly elevated, presence of tubercles on elytra, and inner apical projection in metatarsomere I. We find some of these features to be variable in species currently placed in Anisopodus . However, the general shape of the lateral prothoracic tubercles makes transference of Anisopodus acutus to Paranisopodus appropriate.

The male of Paranisopodus acutus was recently redescribed and illustrated by Santos-Silva et al. (2017), as Anisopodus acutus . Gérard Luc Tavakilian (MNHN; personal communication) confirmed that the tubercles in the metaventrite are present in the holotype and are very evident. This feature allows confirming that the redescription of the species was based on a specimen correctly identified.
