Taxonomy. Crunomys fallax Thomas, 1898 View in CoL ,

Sierra Madre Range, Isabella Province,

Luzon island, Philippines.

Crunomys 1s represented by one poorly

known species on Luzon Island, and it has

not been incorporated into any molecular phylogeny. The species was revised by G. G. Musser in 1982 and by E. A. Rickart and colleagues in 1998. Monotypic.

Distribution. Known only from type locality on NE Luzon I, N Philippines. View Figure

Descriptive notes. Head—body 105 mm, tail 79 mm, hindfoot 23 mm, ear 10 mm. No specific data are available for body weight. The Luzon Shrew Mouse is small and characterized by small eyes, grayish brown relatively spiny dorsal pelage, and gray venter. Tail is shorter than head-body length.

Habitat. Secondary lowland forest at an elevation of 300 m (single specimen).

Food and Feeding. No information.

Breeding. No information.

Activity patterns. The Luzon Shrew Mouse is probably nocturnal.

Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information.

Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red List. The Luzon Shrew Mouse is known from a single specimen collected more than a century ago.
