Range: —Southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC) and Brazil.

Ecology: —Fairly common; hemiepiphytic, on tree trunks in humid forests; to 1900 m, mostly below 1000 m.

Notes: —This differs from Vandenboschia radicans by having conical involucres, each expanded into a wideflaring mouth with two well-defined lips, and winged petioles 0.3–3 cm long, the wings 0.5–1 mm wide. A variable species. Distinctions from V. radicans were discussed by Lellinger (1991).
