status

Polyphlebium diaphanum (Kunth) Ebihara & Dubuisson, Blumea View in CoL 51: 240. 2006.

= Trichomanes diaphanum Kunth , Nov. Gen. Sp. (quarto ed.) 1: 25. 1815 [1816].

Range: —Mountains of Central America, Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP), the Guyanan Highlands, and southeastern Brazil.

Ecology: —Fairly common; epiphytic, on steep banks and rarely on rocks in humid forests; 600–3000 m.

Notes: —Distinctions from Polyphlebium borbonicum may not always be clear in certain parts of the range, according to Ponce et al. (2017). In Bolivian and most neotropical specimens, P. diaphanum has obvious petiolar wings, P. borbonicum does not. See under P. borbonicum for further comments.
