Range: —Antilles; Guatemala; Costa Rica to Venezuela and Bolivia (CO, LP); southeastern Brazil.

Ecology: —Fairly common; saxicolous, on clay banks, and on tree trunk bases in humid forests; 700–2850 m.

Notes: —Differs from H. trichophyllum by having sessile to adnate pinnae and sparser indument.
