Material examined

HOLOTYPE: „. Collected from standing waters covered with rushes, 980 m, 6„„, 5””, 5 May 2002. The accompanying dominant water mite fauna, Arrenurus bicuspidator Berlese, 1885 , Arrenurus bruzelii Koenike, 1885 , Arrenurus abbreviator Berlese, 1888 and Neumania deltoides (Piersig, 1894) , were observed.

Sample from type deposition. Holotype (male), allotype (female) and paratypes (5„„, 4””) in the writer’s collection, S. Demirel University, Isparta, Turkey.

Body 945–725 M m in length (excluding petiole), distance between the preantenniformae setae 275 M m. Dorsal furrow widened posteriorly, length of limiting area 475 M m; fourth dorsa-glandularia and its associated setae are outside this area. Dorsal area lacks a projecting part or mound associated with third

glandularia. Caudal portion 275–550 M m in length; the hyaline appendages extend

backward from caudal between pygial lobes. Setae flanking the petiole bow-like and do not pass distal end of petiole. Petiole 120–70 M m in length, and has cornered edges at upper side and an oval shape on lower side.

Distributions of setae on palpal segments are 1-6-1-1-2. Capitulum 163 M m in length, with a pointed rostrum; dorsal and ventral lengths, and heights of palpal segments: 35-70-58-95-64~322 M m, 23-33-25-50-45~176 M m, 35-70-70-63-13 M m, respectively. Lengths of coxae 295-284-320-392 M m. Body pores in two rows between third coxal groups, and one row between fourth coxal groups. I. B/6, II. B/6, III. B/6 bear slender, short setae, distributions of setae on coxa 3-2-4-3. Distribution of swimming hairs on leg segments: III.B/4:5, III.B/5:6, IV.B/3:7, IV.B/ 4:13, IV.B/5:10; swimming hairs are absent on the first and second leg. Lengths of leg segments as follows: I. leg 68-85-130-164-165-200~812 M m, II. leg: 80-100-142- 195-190-224~931 M m, III. leg: 124-125-150-224-210-225~1058 M m, IV. leg: 150-

213-200-350-115-175~1203 M m. Extension of IV.B/4 100 M m in length and with six setae.

Genital area 80 M m in length; acetabular plate 450 M m in width and acetabular plate extends posterolaterally from the gonopore.

Body 790–690 M m in length, and oval in shape. Distance between pre- and postantenniformae setae 160 and 137 M m, respectively. Limiting area of dorsal furrow 600/450 M m in length.

Capitulum 98 M m in length; chelicera 125 M m in length, and its claw 54 M m in length. Dorsal and ventral lengths, and heights of palp segments: 33-62-45-90-

45~275 M m, 18-30-18-53-35~154 M m, 23-45-47-55-13 M m. Distribution of setae on palp segments 2-2-3-2. Body pores are in four rows between third, fourth coxae, and two rows between second, third coxae. Posterior suture lines relatively smooth and do not bear a conspicuous projection. Lengths of coxal groups are 230-204- 230-270 M m, respectively.

Distribution of swimming hairs on leg segments: I. B/4:3, I. B/5:3, II. B/3:9, IV. B/4:11, IV. B/5:7, last segments of legs, unlike male, do not bear slender, short setae. Lengths of leg segments as follows: I. leg: 50-70-83-110-120-144~577 M m, II. leg: 55-73-96-125-117-145~611 M m, III. leg: 55-90-86-125-126-145~626 M m, IV. leg: 90-125-126-146-147-135~769 M m.

Gonopore 135/120 M m in length; the whole genital area 490 M m in width; small spots on genital flaps cover a large part of the area anteriorly and posteriorly. Genital plate directed posterolaterally and has mounds in dorso-medial position. Genital plates narrow laterally towards distal; distance of excretory pore to genital area 148 M m.

Etymology This species is named for our friend Dr Abdullah Diler.
