Type species. Rhynchorhina mauritaniensis sp. nov. (new designation).

Diagnosis. The genus Rhynchorhina is distinguished from the closely related genus Rhynchobatus by its distinctive rounded snout. Head length (dorsal) 12.5–13.7 % TL; head length (ventral) 21.0–23.2 % TL; preorbital length 8.7–9.5 % TL; preoral length 10.2–10.9 % TL; prenasal length 8.4–9.1 % TL.

Etymology. A composite name derived from Rhynchobatus and Rhina to indicate that the new genus exhibits features of both genera, having a Rhynchobatus -like body with a rounded snout resembling Rhina .
