Lectotype (Sutton in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 86. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 322, Scrophularia 1 (BM-000646206) .

Generitype of Scrophularia Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 168. 1929).

Current name: Scrophularia nodosa L. View in CoL ( Scrophulariaceae ).

Note: Grau (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 147: 235. 1981) indicated 773.2 (LINN) as type, but the sheet lacks a Species Plantarum number (i.e. “2”), and is a post-1753 addition to the collection, and not original material for the name. Sutton’s type choice is therefore accepted here.
