Neotrichia catrimani sp. nov.

Diagnosis. This species belongs to the Neotrichia collata Species Group of Marshall (1979) as defined by Keth et al. (2015), based on the phallus apex with paired, sclerotized hooks that are produced from the extreme tip. The male of Neotrichia catrimani sp. nov. is similar to that of Neotrichia cruviana in segment IX having a pair of short dorsal processes extending posterad ( Figs 2A, 2C View FIGURE 2 , dp), segment X having a pair of lateral lobes ( Figs 2A, 2C View FIGURE 2 ), and the apical tip of the phallus produced in a pair of sclerotized hooks curved dorsad ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ). The new species differs from N. cruviana in the shorter inferior appendages ( Figs 2A, 2B View FIGURE 2 , ia) and the phallus with a third hook that is mesal, short, and acute ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ).

Description. Male (in alcohol): Dark brown, with length of each forewing 1.3 mm (holotype). Postoccipital setal warts pronounced, large, ovoid. Antennae 18-articulated; scape normal, cylindrical, slightly longer than pedicel; flagellomeres each as long as pedicel, cylindrical. Maxillary palp formula I-II-IV-III-V (shortest to longest), first two articles shorter than wide. Mesoscutellum with anterior margin convex; metascutellum convexly subtriangular.

Male genitalia. Segment IX, in lateral view, retracted in segment VIII; its anterolateral margins strongly produced anterad at midheight ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ), deep rounded excisions present anteriorly in both ventral and dorsal views, dorsal excision almost twice as deep as ventral excision ( Figs 2B, 2C View FIGURE 2 ); posterolateral margins rounded and membranous ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ); posterodorsal margin sinuous and with pair of short processes extending posterad ( Figs 2A, 2C View FIGURE 2 , dp). Segment X, in lateral view, membranous, lateral margins wrapping ventromesad around subgenital plate, apically sinuous, pair of lateral lobes tapering apically and directed caudad ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ); in dorsal view, slightly rounded, shallowly excised mesally ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ); in ventral view, producing pair of basomesal lobes around subgenital plate ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 , bl). Subgenital plate, in lateral view, with basal portion shaped as thin inverted V, posterior portion beak-like and directed ventrad apically ( Figs 2A View FIGURE 2 , sg); in ventral view, lateral margins each membranous and papillate, apex flanked by pair of short stout setae curved mesad ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 , sg). Inferior appendages, in lateral view, each short and tapered to blunt apex, mostly hidden by bracteoles, and with basomesal lobe bearing apical seta ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 , ia); in ventral view, each short, with blunt apex, and with basodorsal seta ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 , ia). Bracteoles large, setose, spatulate in lateral view ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 , br); in dorsal and ventral views, oblong and apically blunt ( Figs 2B, 2C View FIGURE 2 , br). Phallus in dorsal view long, apparently without median constriction; paramere ribbon-like, encircling shaft and extending short distance posterad ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 , pr); apical portion long and tubular, dorsally with three acute hooks, mesal hook short and curved slightly to left, other two apical, 3 times as long as short hook, robust, strongly sclerotized, and curved dorsad; ejaculatory duct short, protruding mesally ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 , ed).

Female, larva, pupa, and egg. Unknown.

Holotype male. BRAZIL: Roraima: Iracema municipality, Vicinal Campos Novos (Fazenda Rancho Fundo), small order stream, 2°21’26.22”N, 61°23’38.98”W, 209 m a.s.l., 16 Mar. 2018, Pennsylvania light trap, J.L. Gama Neto, leg. (alcohol; MPEG). GoogleMaps

Distribution: Brazil (Roraima, type locality only).

Etymology. The specific name “ catrimani ” is a noun used in apposition, referring to the Catrimani River, a western tributary of the Branco River.
