Notes

Species complex. Different populations of Eupolymnia nebulosa show different life cycles (brooding vs. free spawning, Bhaud and Lenaers 1992). Sromek et al. (2016), using molecular methods, recovered four cryptic species in Europe: one along the south coast of Norway and three in the Western Mediterranean (of which two also occur in the Atlantic).
