Habitus Fig. 12. Length 0.87–0.89 mm. Colour: dark brown, the dorsum appearing almost black in some lights, antennae and legs yellow. Antennomeres 3–11 Fig. 47 View FIGURES 41 – 55 . Pronotum 0.25 mm long, 0.34 mm wide, Figs. 57 View FIGURES 56 – 61 , 68 View FIGURES 62 – 76 . Elytra 0.54 mm long, 0.45 mm wide, more finely punctured than pronotum and pubescence shorter. Micropterous, wings reduced to remnant only.

Male: not known.

Etymology. This epithet is taken from the Latin adjective niger meaning dark-coloured and refers to the species’ overall dark colouration.

Remarks. The dark colour, distinctive rounded shape and puncturation of the pronotum and elytra, and absence of flight wings will quickly serve to determine this species.

Type data. Holotype: ♀, Ranomafana N.P., RNF/13.2011, litter, sifting, Winkler app. extr. S.21˚15’13.5’’. E.47˚24’[?]09.8’’, 16.iv.2011, L.S.Rahanitriniaina & R.Raveloson (BMNH). Paratypes: 2 ♀, same data as holotype (BMNH).
