Canthidermis maculata (Bloch 1786) —Oceanic triggerfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005 by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, east of New Hanover , at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and temperate oceans. Epipelagic in coastal and offshore waters, 1–110 m depth. Marine.
